Care Weather mass produces satellites to 10X the global supply of weather data. That data paves the way for superintelligent weather simulations that will give prophetic disaster warnings and prescribe cures to droughts, hurricanes, and torrential rain.
Come make Earth more habitable with us.
Full-cycle Factory Engineer - PCBA
Care Weather is looking for engineers with backgrounds in electronics, embedded software, and mechanical design to join the One PCB founding team. In addition to facilitating rapid design, prototyping, and development of the wide array of weather satellites required to achieve Care Weather’s mission, One PCB brings rapid, low-cost manufacturing back to America just as super-intelligent agents need a pathway to quickly validate electronic designs (article).
On the One PCB team, you will design, build, and productionize hardware, software, and robotic operations to drive the unit cost of custom PCBs to their asymptotic material cost.
Responsibilities
Depending on assignment, you will:
- Build full-stack web applications for instant-quote, click to order custom electronics. Provide immediate feedback with automated DFM. Integrating software with factory systems for inventory, manufacturing, and fulfillment.
- Select advanced PCB manufacturing machines, including laser etching systems, solder paste printers, pick and place machines, ovens, conformal resin printers, and integrate them into a single conveyor system.
- Develop automated ordering and inventory systems for managing millions of unique stock keeping units (SKUs).
- Train human technicians and humanoid robots to automate order fulfillment. Develop and automate procedures for quality control, rework, yield analysis, and machine/electrical safety including OSHA compliance and LOTO.
- Design, build, and test novel hardware and software for PCB pick and place, driving down cost per SKU and accelerating circuit board assembly.
- Conduct customer discovery with users at Care Weather and elsewhere to understand delays and pain points that need fixing.
- Write high-quality technical documentation of designs and contributor guidelines. Write minimal procedures for largely automated build and test operations. Write well-reasoned test reports.
- Update and maintain factory hardware and software for a series of new and legacy factory lines with evolving performance targets.
- Support other development as needed.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, computer science, manufacturing, aerospace, or physics.
- Hands-on experience with circuit board design, development, and testing.
